Dear Sister it is with
the gratist of love and pleasure
that I seat my Self this
morning to rite you a few
lines in anser to your kind
letter that I received a few
minits a go and I was truly
glad to hear from you and
to hear that you was well
I got a letter from you and
one from Ri[?] one Carrie one
J. S. Councill they was all
rote the 20 of february they
was rite Smart while on
the road but I was glad
to git them for that was
the first time that I
heard from my dear Carrie
Since I left home

news worth riting to you
everything is Still a long
our lines as fair as I now
we are a way from the Army
and we dont hear any thing
hear we are a bout twenty
miles below dalton me and
Elbert Davis we are a driving
wagons in the general Army
Supply train it has bin
over a month Since I Saw
any of our Regt but they
rite to us [a?] every now and
then we have Some very bad
wether hear for the time
of year I think it rained as
hard last nite as I ever
heard it rain in my life
it has Snowed two Snows her[?]
in this month
