Mr J W..Culberson Dear Friend i take my pen
in hand to Adress you with a few lines to
inform you that I am not well but .I. am
Able to be about I am in the hospital I have
the mumps but I think that I shall be
well Shortly but I truly hope that those few
lines may reach you and find you enjoying
good health I have had the chills but I have
missed my chills and taken the mumps I often
think of the pleasant hours that we have
spent together but they have passed by and
gone now but I hope that we may spend
as many more together our hospital is at carolina
city it is the hotell that was once occupied
but the owner has left it and we took it
for a hospital and it does verry well it
is a large house we have a rite smart
of sickness here at the hospital but not
many that is very Danger as I Know of
if Nothing happens to me i expect to go back
to my company in the camps which is across the
the Sound about 5 miles by water next week
Oh John I often think of last harvest
and the fun that we had together and now
we are so fare apart I am sitting in

and tell uncle John that Jack and James Fox
is well and doing well when I left camps
tell Grandmother i would be happy to see her and ant
Jane and all the rest of the family this evening
but we ar so far a parte I can not be
with you at this time I hope I will live to
see you all a gaine on earth but
if I never see you a gain on earth
I hope to meet you all where parting
will be no more. direct your letter
to More head city N.C.
