Camp 9 mils South of Petersburg
Dec the 21st 1864
Dear Mother I received your letter having
date of the 11th I was glad to here
from you and the family we have
left the valley and ar now below
petersburg every thing has been quiet
Since we landed here the wether
has been maderate untill now
it is raning at this time we are
building winter quarters at this time
and I think we will stay here
all winter I wase glad to here
that you had all your wheet sode
A P Wats is going home on a [9?] days
furlough and I want you to
Send me a box I want you to
send me a half bushel of Sweet
pottoes meal chickens and eggs meal
I want a peck of meel 25 or 30 pouns
of flour molasses and every thin
that you can you must have
them reddy to send by Wats he
will not Stay at home but

three or four days you must not
bake mutch but send meal and
flour I can bake it my self if
the weather is cold Send me
chickens but if the wether
is warm they will spoil
write often as I am always glad
to here from you
