Petersburg Va. June 3rd 1862
Sear Sisters I embrac this leisure moment
to answer your not of the 29th ult. I am fat
sasy now and hope this may find you in
good health. (I must stop now for the call is Co. B fall
in for battalion drill) well we have got
back again instead of battallion drill
we were out on a sham fight we went
about a mile up the road and went through
the firing and then retreated throug a thicet
so thick we could not see ten steps before us
we have all got safely back again with only some
slight wounds I recde a slight wound on the knee
against a stump. I am sorry to hear that you
have not started the sunday I think there are
enough of you to carry it on, I rec. the potatoes
and other provisions you sent me I have two
potatoe yet

and I would like to have some more
if you have them and can make it conve
nient to send them. and some rosted wheat
a pie or two any kind of fruit if it is ripe
if you can conveniently, we have plenty to eat
but I would like a snack now and then
I have nothing more particular to write now
write as soon as you can and let me
know how you and all my friends
are getting on anything weill be acceptable
to me write often so nomore at present
may the Lord bless you and all of
us ever keep us as his and at last save
us all for Christs sake,
