Dear father I now take my pen in
hand to drop you a few lines to let you no how
I am getting along I am getting well again I am
going on gard tomorrow Dear father I was glad to
hear that you was all well Dear father I
got much to write at this time But I hop you
will have the more to write to me thear was
talk of a fight hear for the three or four last days
But the talk of the fight is over now and I am
in hops that thear wont be nary nother fight for I
think that thear is a nuf of men kiled now
to stop it Dear father I want to hear the news
from home it dos me a heap of good to hear from
home we hant drawed aney mony in a long
time and I cant tel when we will get any
we draw very short rashens at this time and
money is scears to Buy the pevisens with
Dear father I want that Box you lowd to send
to me I want sweet Bread and pyes and cabig
heads and all you think nesery and some of that
strong stuff its a little like camfire all it lacks [3]
the camfire ant in it But it drinkes all write
any way you can give a ruf ges what it is and
send me some money if you pleas so turn
over

two and send me some red peper and some
unions and Butter and evy thing that you
can think of appels two for I had forgot
the apples and some eggs and potatoes iresh
potatoes and sweet ones and Biskets and I
want you to send me a Jacket and gloves
and two pare of sox and dont fail Dear
father I must clos as I hant got much to
write But I hop you will have the
more to write to me and I remain
as ever your effectinate son til death
