Dear Brother I have taken the
opportunity of writing you a few
lines to inform you that I am well
at this time and I hope that
few lines may find you the
Same Blesing John give my love
to all the family and tell them
that I want to See them all if
I could I am Station on the poto-
mac River nere the yankees
but I hope I will Come home
a gain soon I hope the war
will not last long for want
to come home veary bad John
I want to see you So bad that
I can teast it I think John I
want you to write to me how all
of the folks is and write Soon
and answer my letter and let
me know how you all are

veary well we get nothing but
Beef to eat and Bread we

Vigin nia and Some times we
dont get that to eat Some
times we have nothing for
Breakfast and the Same
for dinner and the same
fride over for Supper
So we eat it and Say nothing
a bout it So nothing more
