Nancy most nearest
and Dearest of all I will try
to wrte you a few lines
monday 10th 1861 I am at uncle
samuel philips at this time
in raleigh and expect to
sty severel dys so I want
you to write to me if you
can I am very well at this
time and hope you ar too I never
shall forget you as long
as I liv and I dont think
that you eve will me
I recolect the last time
I stade with you for it
was such a pleasure to
me that I cant forget it
Nancy I see a heap of fun
but not much pleasure
you know the cose of that
it is becos I cant be with
you all but

allways will be my desire

any thing that has made
you feel bad if so I
know you excuse m I know
you will I think that I
can hav the chance to com
to see you all this sumer
and tel John Hanes my
brother that you hav

am geting along tell him
to giv my lov to ant & uncle
and all the res and keep a
good portion for him self
