My dear Partha I have
been in two battles I
was in alittle Scrumage
at west point and below
rich mond at the Seven
pines [2] thats the first battle
of richmond an Sunday morning
we was put in before
right lite in about Six
hundred yards from about
ten thusand yankys we
had no orders to fire atall
and the yankeys comect
fireing on our two peases
with Six of thearn we
wair ordered out when

rear our gunner was about
three Steps from the gun and

hand and cut off two finger
