Petersburg . v .A .Sept 21 .1864
My dear wife I now Seat my Self to
answer your cind letter that I
received dated the 12 I was truly
glad to hear from you and to hear
that you ware boath well I am also
well at present hoping theas few
lines may find you boath well
my dear I have no news to rite
at present only the boys air
puting up winter quarters my dear
I thaught I wold hear from
that Soldier when I got that
letter but I did not I reckon
I will hear from him the next
letter my dear I wold like to be
with you but thair is no
chance I will get afurlow
about the first of november
but that will be too late
but I hope you will get
tended too as well as if I was
thair

pretty raget but we will
draw clothse in afew days
I am doing verry well yet
for clothing but Daniel
is nerley naked I hope
we will get abox before
long for I wont Something
good to eat my dear we
air yet on the lines between
richmond and petersburg
but we havent don eny
fireing in agood while
and I hope we wont this
winter no more my dear
I must Soon close my
Short letter as I have no
news to rite I will close
by asking you to rite Soon
