Camp Murfreesboro Tenn
Dec 15th 1862
Dear Father and Mother
I seat my self to drop
you a few lines to let you
know how I am getting long
I am getting a long sorty bad at
this time I have ben sick
for the last week but I
am better I think I will
be able for duty in a day
or two I received a letter from
you dated 6th and one from
Jane dated the 28th which
I was glad to heare from you
all and heare that you was
all well I got them things that
you sent to me by Mr Stepp
we are very well fixt heare
now if we can get to Stay
we all have chimneys to our

tents I recived a letter from
Sam dated the 12th he was
was well and doing vary well
I think he will be down in
afew days to see us we are only
about twelve miles apart
I cant tell you any thing about
the war I exspect you can heare
mour war news theire than
we can heare you must excuse
me for not writing sooner
for I have not had time to
write you must son and give
me all the newes I must
Close at the presant I will
try to do better the next time
I remain your son
