February, 5 1863
Dear Father & Mother
As Mr Stepp is a
going to Start home to morrow
I thought I wold write you
a few lines to let you that
I am gitting along tolerable
well at the present and
hope these few lines will
find you all well and
doing well I have nothing
of interst to write the helth
of our Regt— is improving
I heare that the enemy is advancing
but I dont know how true it
is our men are fortifing
at this place we go out to
work about one day evry
week I recived a letter from
Jacob yesturday wcih
Sated that william had
got back to his company
