July the 8th /64
Dear Father
As I thought you would
like to hear what had
become of me I will try
to write you a few lines
to let you know I am
at our Hospital near
Spotsylvania C. H. V.A.
I was wounded the 19th may
I was wounded in three
places in the face and leg
and ankle I am geting
tolerable well though I can
not get about any yet
my ankle is not healed up
yet the others are nearly
well I hope I will gett
able to get about bfore
long I hope I will gett
