Mr Jesee Phillips
Dear uncle & ant I drop you a few
lines to let you no I am well & harty
hoping those few lines may reach
& find you the same this is the first
time I have had the chance to write
cince I left home the next day
after I returned to camp we got
orders to march & we have bin
marching & fiting every scince I
will give you a list of the Kiled
& wounded in our compny Kiled

H. L. Kinlaw that is all that got
hurt I havent time to tell
you mutch I dont expect you
can read this for the yankees is
Shelling us & I have bad chance

at home for I have wrote three
times Scince I left I havent herd
from yet if they aim to quit
writing I am in for I cant get the
chance to write often you ought
to be here to drink old coffee [4]
& crackers you will See our travels
in the papers I want you to write
& give me all the neuse a bout
home we cant tell whair we
will be when you here from us
a gane give my respects to all
famly Orren has bin Sick but
he is better to day he is able to
be up to day I will close for I
dont expect you will ever read
this I remain as ever tell
