My Dear Wife
I would of wrote to
you yesterday but I was quite
unwell but feel better today I
suppose you got home safe Mr
Hight toled me that he would
lett you have ten Dollars when
he got home & pay you the balance
on what I payed him please write me
soon & lett me know if you got
it & if you did not get it I will
borrow some & send it to you
Dump I cant say for surten whether
we will leave here soon or not but
I heard this morning that we have
been taken in from the briggade &
will remain hear as a gard for the
town if we are I will lett you know

Soon & fix it so you can come &
stay all the winter with me if
you had of brought Seaf with you
I would helped you when you come
out hear We have not drawd
any shoes yet & I am geting nearly
bafooted my feet felt quite
cole this morning Dump you must not
forget to send me some apples if you
can get any & if you can get any
brandy please send me some but understand
me I do not want it to drink I want
it for some other purpose I can sell
one quart of brandy heare for fifteen Dollars
pleas write me soon & lett me know how
you all are & how Seaf is getting on
Tell Papa I never saw clothing as high
in my life as they are here you cant
by no kind of a coat for less than 30 Dollars

Dump you know that I must of felt
bad the night i got back from
Weldon I never felt as loanley in
my life as I did that night I got
back in plenty time to take my
poast & there was nothing said about
it evry thing was all right
Just as soon as I can find out whither
we will stay heare this winter I will
send for you & meet you at Weldon
I think by the time I write again I
can lett you know what to depend
on Tell sister Ann I will write
to her soon tell sister Jane I wish
that I had of had something to of sent
her by you but once is not all ways
I must come to a close with my letter
write me as soon as you get this give
my love to all & receive a portion for your
self I received your housmand untill
