Miss R L Proffit Dear Sister
I again write you a short not which
leavs me will hoping this may find you
all well I am anxiously wating for
a letter from home although I have al
most dispared of geting one I know
you could write me a short letter
and inform me how the family are
geting along &c the News is scerce at
presant though that is generally the
case especialy relyable news we are
we are still looking for orders to march
to North Carolina which I hope soon
to do all your frends are well
in camps so far as I know I hav
understood that you could not or had
not received any letters from me I
am truly sorry you cannot get letters
from me and am more so because I
cannot get some news from you
if you take the notion to write me a
letter please put in a good Knidle
and as much thread as you can
and I would like to hav my comb

I beleive you can send it in a
letter any how, and if ever I can
see any stamps I will risk send
ing a few home write if there is
any talk of peace in Wilkes
write what pa is going to do [??]
and what he is doing at present
giv my respects to Pa & Ma and
in a particular manner to Elizabeth
tell betty if she is a little
I would like powerfully to see her
and the Children I will close
for I am in no fix for writing
