R.L. Proffit Dear Sister
I again write you not in anseer
to aletter from you for
I have not seen a letter from
you or any other friend in
Wilkes in 3 monthes and you
can guess wheather I want to
hear or not I know I wrot
for you not to Start aletter to
me sevrel times and wrote to
Start some if they ware started
I never got any of them
But I hope to git one soon
when I got to the Regt they ware
ingaged in a heavy Skirmish
which turned out to be a charge
we drove them back with a vary
small loss &c &c

We are not on the line injoying
our selves fine we draw plenty to
eat and have nuthing to do but
cook and eat, I of course
dont git as good things hear as
at the Hospt but I have plenty
Sutch as it is John is
hear Linzy is gon to the hospt
Rufus Robberds and Jesse
are prisnors P.W. was slightly
wounded and sent to the Hospt
I have not heard from any of the
rest of the
Write soon and let your letter
contain a bout 7 sheats for loss
time, in full of crops fruit
garden health &c of Elizabeth &c
Tell the Walshes to writ me if
they are my friends, &c In good health
