October [24] 1863 dear wife I
now seat my self to inform you
that i am wel at this time
hopeing when theas few lines
come to hand they wil find
you and all the family
injoying the same besing
i rote you a letter last
sundy and you never ansd
i dont no whethe you got
or not i told you to send
me a box if you hant sarted
it yet dont start it tel I
no how long we wil stay
here we expect to go to
ashville or to the warm
spring in tennessee in
the corse of a weak
or ten days we have
more men then we want
for one company i wil now
tel you something of Camp

life but i enjoy my self
bette the i expected we
have a good Captain he
wont low enny swereing
or enny other bad conduct
we have preachin an sin
ging in camp i would
be glad to see you all
once more i want you to
do the bes you can i dont no
when i wil get home
a gane i want to see
my little baby bad but
if i never see you all
enny more in this wor i hop
to meat you in heaven whar
furies and blud shed wil
be no more i mast bring
my letter to a Close by saying
i remain your affectionate
