Dear wife i now seat my
self to drop you a few
lines to let you no
that i am wel hopeing
when theas lines come
to hand they wil find
you all wel we got to
danvill to day we are
wery tired we wil
stay all nite here and
ten go on we have hard
work to ged fead for our
horses but they stand it
werry wel i have no
news much to rite at
this time the yanks
have tore up the rail
Road some place betwn
here and Richmond

and burnt severl depots
i have sean a heap sence
i left home i would like
like to hare from you all
for i am on easy a bout
the baby but i hope it
wel i dont want you
to be trubbled a bout me
for i feal like i will
some day get home thou
i expect to sea hard times
i want you to do the best
you can and try and
save the wheat i cant
tel you whare to rite at
this time so nothing more
at presant but remane
