June 19th /62
My Dear Father I would have
wrote you sooner but wee have bin on
the schout one month and I have bin
wating on you for an answer this makes 5 letters
and have received no letter as yet our Regt.
is considerably scattered 3 cos. is at Richmond
and the other [2?] at Ronoak in N.C. I am
varry Glad wee have Got back to old v.a.
wher wee get a plenty to eat wee ar in
General Stured Briggade but since wee left N.C.
wee have lost 2 of our men John Harris
and A.J. Bell has deserted it is thougt they
have Gon to the yankees our horses is in
splended order and wee will haft to try their
in a fiew days I think their is Hard
fighting a going on in 6 milds of this place
and wee ar wating all the time for orders
and expecting them all the time wee
have bin varry forchent in the last battles

Wee Whip them in ever atact and [ink stain] wee will
continue it and I think wee will for the
ladies of Richmond is Working all they Can
in our behalf their is about 20 ladies
visits our camp ever day and tells us to fight
on their laps shal bee a pillow for the brave
N.C. Boys if they Git wonded and I think
the no man can dair say that they nice and
brave ladies speak from impure motivs
our co. is in tolerable helth and our hospittle
men is doing well their has bin a considerable
change since the last fight at Richmond
the ladies have all went to the hospittle
and the boys say that if it had not bin
for them they would have died beyon all
doubt I want you to write to mee how
times is and how you ar Getting a long
and who al is working with you tell Gran
father and mother howdy for mee and
tell them I would like to see them

kinston and I will haft to say what you did
at Manassas you sayd you should wright no more
till you got an answer and that is what

so long you will surly write something what my
Girls sayd for I tell you I would like varry much
to hear from them occasionly and the last
letter you wrote you sayd you thought I might
as will bring your and Marry a sweethart as well as
I will with the Gratest of pleasure for I think
our Co. aford as many Gentlemen as any one
in the southeren Confedracy and they all
say that they like the henderson Girls
when you write I want you to write a
heap of fun for I like to read fancy letters
