Dear Mother
It is With great plesur that
I Seat my Self this Beautiful Morning
Beneath the Roof of my pine log Cabin
to drop you afew lines to inform you that
I am well at present, And enjoying of
my Self as Well as Camp life can
afford. And I hop that thies few lines
may reach and fined you enjoying
the Best of helth. Mother I Want to
here from you veary Bad in deed for I hav
not had a letter from you in Some time,
Mother I hope that this War will Sone
End, And then We can all go home for
good, I think that it Will end the carse
Eight Month of Eight Months, I hav
no newse of any importance to Write
you all is quiet here at this time no
prospect of any fighting Round here,
We hav got Winter quarters here now
and I hope that We Shall Stay here all
the Winter, Without we can go down
in old Martin County again }

I veary glad to here that the 17 Regt had
to leav Martin County I think that they
Will Bee in South Carolina Before
Christmass, And I think if they go
there that they Will learn Something
about War, Mother We hav had
agreat Revival at kenansvill, It
lasted four Weeks, there Was from
thurty fiv to fourty Baptised,
Mother I Will enclose twenty Dollars
in this letter for you it is all that I can
spare at this time, I Want you to Send
mee my Shirts By Daniel right
if you cant get no chance to Send them
Before then, and try and send me Some
Butter if you can get any, I Would Bee
veary glad if you Would Send me them
Brss Buttons if you can spare them,
And I Want you to Send me two pare of
Surspenders if you can get them.
Mother I Would Bee veary glad to Send
you Something But there is not athing
in the Vilag Worth Buying that you
Would hav, Mother I Want you
to Write me a long letter and Send
me By Daniel, And Write all
the newse, And let me know
