I Received your veary
kind letter letter of the 16 Inst. And was
veary glad to here from you. But I Was
veary Sorry to here that you had Bin
Sick, And I Was Sorry to here that you
Could not get no corn, I cant tell
What you all are agoing to for corn in
that part of the Cuntry. you must
try and Buy anought to fatten your
Hogs, And then you Will hav to
Brake upt house keeping, Corn
is veary hight here, It is Worth
from twenty to twenty fiv dollars
per Barel, Salt is falling it Worth 15
dollars at Wilmington, And 12 on the
Sound, Meat is Worth two dollars per
Pound, here and Potatoes is Worth
2 ½ and three dollars per Bushel, Eggs
is Worth two dollars per don. Butter is
from two to three dollars per
Pound, Rice is Worth 25 Cents per Pound,
flour is Worth fifty cents per pound,

Mother I am not afraid But What you
can get Something to Eat as long as theare
is any thing in the Country, you not
got any one But your Self to fead, you
hav to let Abner go Back to his Mothe
or hire him out if Brake upt house
keeping I Want you to Write weather
Pelina has gon to the yankees or not,
If she has not I Want you to giv here
fiv dollars, And giv Abner one dollar
and tell him that I Sent it to him
Mother I Bought me apocket knife to
day and giv ten dollars for it, And I
Was offored 15 dollars for it in less
then one hour after I bought it,
Mother thies few lines leaves me
in fine helth, And I hope that they
Reach and fine you in the Best of
helth, Mother I Want you to Write to
me Weather you hav killed any beef
this fall or not, if you hav not I
Want to kill one Salt it for your Self, I
Will try and Send you a Bushel of Salt-
Some time But dont depend on it for
I cant tell When I can get it, to send to
you, Nothing more at present only I
