My Dear Mother,
It is through the
mercy of divine Providence
that I hav seated my self
to drop you a few lines to
to let you know that I am
yet in the Land among the
Living, though I hav seen
hard times for the last 25
Days. Whe hav Bin lying in
line of Battle for 25 days. We
hav Bin in two Battles
since I Wrote you Before,
We ware in the fight at
Bluf. We drov
the yankees from the field
in great confution. We
had one man killed from

our Campany. We hav had
Nine wounded, and three out
of the Nine is dead. Capt
Lanier, Robert Ward, and
Iseia Peal, is dead,
Joeph Gibson was
Wounded in the hand.
We are in 900 yards of the
yankees now our pickets
are in three hundrd yards
of each outher: they meet
this moning and talk
to geather, Mother you
must do the Best you can
for they hav not payed us
any money yet, and
I cant tell you What to do
for the Best, But I hope
that the Lord will help
Mother I hav got a Bad
chance to Write here,

I Want you to Write to
me as sone as you git
this Letter for I want
to here from you veary
Bad in deed. I hav not had
a Letter from you in
