Dear Father and Mother Brothers & Sisters
I take my pen in hand to inform
You that I am well and hope when
these Few lines comes to hand
may Find you injoying the same
Blessing I received you Kind letter
dated 24th of Oct and was more than
glad to hear From you and to hear
that you was well and Doing
well you wrote that you was a
gowing to send me 2 plugs Tobacco
and some paper by Lt Neal
when he comes and I am in
hopes that wont be long For
we Need him verry bad For we
havent got no commissiond officer
in the company Now For Lt Long
got wonded in the sheppardstown
Fight and has since Died and
you wrote that if I wanted anny
shirts pants or drawers that you
would make them For me

chance I wish you would make
me 2 colord Shirts checked and
Send them By the First chance if
you please and Tell Miss Rebeca
Brann I want her to make me a
Knit Comfort and send them by the
First Chance and I will pay her For
it we are a gowing to draw

Say we are a gowing to draw For
Six months and if we do I am
a gowing to Send 30 or 35 Dollars

Tell you the price of Tobacco is selling
at 100 per plug and Apples is selling
From 50 cts to 100 per doz and Flour
at 10 cts per lb I must quit So no more
at present only remain your loveing son
