Camp Gregg VA 28th NC Troops June 5th 1863

Dear Father I take my pen in hand to
inform You that I am well and hopes
when these Few Lines comes to hand
may Find You all enjoying the same
Blessing I havent recieved but one
Letter From You since the Fight and
this makes 5 I have wrote and I thought
I would Keep Writing untill I get
an answer we Have moved our camp
a bout a half a mile in a nice
Old Pine Field in the pretyest Kind of a
Place and I am in hope we will
stay here a good While Capt Bohannon
has got a Furlough and gone home
he started 3rd of this month I was
at General Lanes head quarters on guard
or realts I would of Wrote a Letter [1]
and sent by him I want You
to Send me some Butter By the Capt
When he comes Back and I dont
Want You to send My shirts not untill
I write to You to send them
For I dont Kneed them and I cant
Toat them if I had them General
Pender is our Major General Fanny
Shepards husband

I want You to make all the corn
and Potatoes that You can and Peas and
Beans and Onions too
Tell Thomas Brann I recived a letter From
him a bout 1 month a go and I
answerd it right of and I want him
to Write to me
Give my best respect to all
the Neighbors and tell them I would
Like to see them all
Tell Mr Howard I have wrote him
2 Letters and never have recived no
aswer Yet and that I never intend
to write to him any more not
untill I get a letter
I must Bring my Letter to a
Close By saying Write soon and
Fail not
& I remain Your loveing
