Hamiltons Crossing near Fredricksburg June 10th 1863

Dear Father & mother I take my pen in
hand to inform You that I am well
and hope when these Few lines comes to
hand may Find You all well
I recieved Your Kind letter Yisterday
and was Truly glad to hear From
You but I am sorrow to tell You
what a Condition it Found me in
we got orders Last Friday night at 10 o
clock to Bundle up and Fall in to
march and had to leave right off
and we had to march all night
till Day light and [??] we have bin laying
in the Breast works ever since the Yanks
is a cross the river and I guess we will
have to Fight them but if we do
I hope I will come out safe
If I do I will Write to You
right of and If I get wounded
I will Write anny how they say
Longstreet is up a bout Culpeper a
Crossing their rear and if he does we
[???? ???? Fight?]

it wont do anny good
I Must Bring My letter to
a Close By saying I remain Your
