Camp near Orange Court House Nov 14th 1863
Dear Father & Mother I take my pen
in hand to inform You that I
am well and hope when these Few
lines comes to Hand may Find You
all enjoying the same Blessing I wrote
You one Letter Last Tuesday but
I was a Fraid You might not
get that I would Write You an
other one I got a Long splendid
a comeing down I staid all night
in Petersburg and one day and night
in Richmond and I went a bout
in Richmond right smart and
Looked at the town and saw a
heap of People and a great manny
Things Father I tried in richmond
to get some caps and I couldant
get You anny but I will get
You some the First chance I get
and send them to You Mother I
had a plenty to do me Till I
got to camp without Tetching
My butter or molasses I tell You
it goes splendid now and it was

Think who cooked it and how good
it was I [???] a long with Capt
Apperson and a bout 15 of his men
in raleigh [????] had company all
The way to the regt me and
John Hous come to Weldon to
gether and we enjoyd our selves splendid
to gether when I First got to the
company I had the worst kind of
a cold but I and a geting some
Better now and I think I will
be stout in a Few days Gran Mother
You must take good care of Your self
and do the best You can and I
will do the same Tell bet and Fanny
I Found all my Galls well and they say
You must come and Bring Them a
chicken when You Bring mine John
and sam must stay at home and
sow wheat and and go to the
Shuckins Write as soon as You get
