Dear Father and mother I take my pen
in hand to inform You that
I am well and hope
when These Few lines comes
to hand May Find You
injoying the same Blessing I
riceved Your kind letter 2nd
and was truly glad to hear
From You and to hear that
You was a geting a long
so well with Your work
we had to leave our quarters
27th to go and run the
Yankies a cross the [?????]
our regt was not in the
Fight the Yankies is gone
A cross the river and we
come back to our quarters
3rd and I am in hopes

we will stay here all this
winter I got that piece
of Gold You sent me
and was verry much oblige
To You For sending it
I wish I was at home
now to get some Back
bones and Spar ribs and
Cabage I will give You the
Prices of Produce corn meal is
worth 10 Dollars per Bushel Turnips
2 Dollars per Doz apples 2
Cabage I Dollar per Head
and small at that I eat
the Last of my butter the
28th of last month but it
was a geting sorta strong
but I wish I had some
more Like it if You get
The chance I want You to
send me some Irish potatoes
and sweet ones and some
