Camp Near Orange C H
Feb 8th 1864
Dear Father I take my
pen in hand to inform
You that I am well and
hope when these few lines
comes to hand may find
You enjoying the same
Blessing I received Your
Kind letter 6th and was
truly glad to hear From
You and to hear that You
was well and geting a
long well You wrote that
You was a gowing to send
me a pair of socks by
Lieut Todd but he didant
come back by our house
I dont kneed them verry
bad now but You may

send them by the first one
that passes The Yankeys have
been a pestering us a little
a gain they come with
in three or Four miles of
our camp Yesterday and
had a little Fight with
our cavalry and runn our
cavalry back and we had
to reenforce them with
our infantry and runn
them back our Brigade
was not in to it but
we had to march a bout
6 miles and then the orders
come for us to go back
to our camps we had to
march verry hard but I
am in hopes that they will
let us a lone for a
while now

I reacon I must tell
You our Regt has reenlisted
For the war they will Keep
us in anny how and
we thought we had Just
as well reenlist as not
I must Bring my letter
to a close By saying I
