Biography: 

[Core had served in the 2nd NC Inf and lost an arm at the Battle of Malvern Hill. He had previously directed a letter to Vance on January 12, 1863. Presumably someone else wrote his letters for him.]

Gore was born in Craven County but was a resident of Guilford County when he enlisted as a private in Co. E, 2nd NC Inf. on July 6, 1861. At the time his age was listed as 22. He was badly wounded at Malvern Hill on July 1, 1862 and discharged soon after.
