Biography: 

The Coletranes (also spelled Coltrane) were a farm family from near Ashboro in Randolph County. At the time of the 1860 Census, Daniel Branson Coletrane was 37 and his wife, Martha, 35. D. B. Coletrane enlisted as a sergeant in Co. I, 5th NC Cav. on July 8, 1862. He was wounded at Gettysburg on July 3, 1863.
