Biography:
Charlotte Rowell (b. ca. 1793) was a wealthy widow and landowner in the northwest district of Brunswick County. Her overseer, John N. Register (b. ca. 1824), enlisted as a private in Co. D, 51st NC Inf. on January 10, 1862. He was wounded at Petersburg on June 17, 1864 and was reported absent without leave on November 23, 1864.
