the 18 1862 The Honorble Z B Vance
Dear sir I take the pen in hand to ask A favor of you
in defence of the Southern caus you no that there is A
grate out cry with the Soldiers for shoes A thing which
is gratly Kneeded in this seson and I am making all
that I can for them but as I am getting rather old
and my eyes is getting rather blind so as I caint
do mutch I beg of you for assistance I have one sone
in the Army little and weekly as he is he is not
mutch able for servis and he is A most splended
shoe maker will you pleas have him discharged to
come home and help me make shoes for his fellow
men and I allso have A Brother which is allso A very
weekly man or was when he went in to sirves

and I dont sopose he is mutch elce yet if you
will pleas discharge them two men and send them
home to help me make shoes for our Brave
defenders I will Honor yore name as long as I
live they are both in Co. A 43 Regt NCST My
Sone is Calvin J Rogers and My Brother is
John B Rogers and if you will pleas send them
send them as quick as posable and rite to me
as soon as you get this letter and direct yore

they are under Kenansville Duplen
