Rock Run January the 14th 1862
Dear Brother I Seat my Self to drop you
a few lines to let you no how We are geting along
We are all tolerably at present hopeing When
thes lines comes to hand they may find you all
well, Well tom i hav not got much news to Wrigt
at this time. We do not here aney thing from
the yankees now We are living her doing
nuthing the Weather has been so bad that
we cant do eneything We hav had too big Snows
the ground is coverd With Snow now it is about
three inches deep, our regment is out on picket
now they hav bin out in all the snow, i did
not go out With them this tim i Staid With
James aleWine he was Sick When they Went out
W M Bowen got Back on the 8 i received
the letter that you sent With him and all
the rest of the things they Sent i allso received
a letter from you yisterday i Was glad to here
from you and to here that you are Well
and Satisfide With your officers for that
is more than i can say, We hav not got but one
officer in camp, that is our third leutenent

all the news and giv me the names of all your mess
and What company, and full Directions

i Was at manassas Junction yisterday
and i saw three men With ther hands tied up
to a pole and So they had to Stand on ther tip
