Biography:
Daniel Boyd (1836-1870) resided in Abbeville County, South Carolina with his family. In 1861, he enlisted with his younger brother Pressly in Co. D, 7th South Carolina Infantry. His three other brothers and his brother-in-law also served in the Confederacy. Of these five men, Daniel was the only one to survive the Civil War. Daniel was wounded at the Battle of Gettysburg and captured and held as a prisoner of war. He returned home after he was exchanged as a prisoner, then rejoined Co. D, 7th South Carolina Infantry. Although he survived the war, Daniel died shortly after in 1870.
