Biography: 

John Clavin Alewine (1842-1927) resided in Abbeville County, South Carolina with his family. He served in Co. G, 19th South Carolina Infantry with John Thomas Boyd. The Alewine, Crowther, and Boyd families were closely related. John Calvin survived the war and later relocated to Arkansas, where he collected a Confederate pension and was buried.
