Camp 7th S C V near new market va
October the 25th 1864
Dear father one time more i hav the oppertunity
to drop you a few lines to let you no that
I am still a live and enJoying good health
hopeing When thes few lines coms to hand
they may find you enJoying the same great
blessing I received your letter of the 9th I Was
glad to hear from home and you ar all Well
amd doing Wel that is more than I can say
We hav had another big fight near Strasburg
We left camp the knight of the 19th marched all and
attacted the yankees on morning of the 20th at
day light We capturd all their pickets and
then marched in to their camps and fired in to their
tents Whether they was Sleeping We kild a great
meny of them a Sleep We drove them out of
their breast Works they Went flying all over
the country leaving every thing in camp We
drove them six or seven miles it Was a charge all
the time We captured 38 peaces of artillerry
from 1500 to too thousand prison
ers and blankets and tents enough to Suply
the army and eney thing that you can call
for every thing Went rite til after
twelve oclock We had the[m] completely routed
but to our mis fortion they got reinforcements

along and all the neighbors is geting

Som socks the first chance you hav I hav got

now i hav got clothe enough to do me
Bill Campbell hav got back to camp at
last he lost the Socks you Sent with him
i be live i hav rote all that i can this
