Camp near Fredericks Burg
February the 21th 1863
Dear father i take this oppertunity of
droping you a few lines to let you
no that i am Well this time and hope
When thes few lines comes to hand
they find you all Well and doing
Wel the health of our regment is very
good at this time and the Boys ar in
good sperits all ar quiet on this line
their ar some talk of us moving from
hear We hav bin under marching orders
for the last Weak their ar som talk of
us going to Black Water va or to charleston
south carolina i Wold like to go to charles
town very much our ar my is mov
ing now They ar going to Wards richman
We hav got orders to Send of all the heavy
Baggage that We cant cary With us i
We Wil go Soon General Jackson army
going to stay hear to gaurd this line
the Weather has Bin very Bad We hav
had a Big snow and rain after We hav
Water and mud til We cant hardley
get about But it cleard of now and i
We Wil hav dry Weather now
We had to go on picket about a Week
ago and Stayed Six day We cold
See the yankees leaving We Saw
twenty six regments get on the
cars they have Bin Burning
in their camps we saw smoke
