Dear father i Seat my Self to wright you afew
to let you Know that iam Well at this time
R P has been Sick but he is geting better he Was
Sick about a Weak . James alewine is well and the rest
of the boys is Well the health of our camp is very good
at this time our redgment is improving verry fast
i Wil giv my reason for not riting be fore now. i have
not had time to rite for We hav been a moving about
for the last too Weaks We move every other day down to
malverns hill. that is the place Wher the great bat
tle Was fought on teusday. mc clealands army has near
ly all left James river they ar gon to reinforce pope
all of our force is gon but Mc laws divis ion to re
inforce Jackson they ar looking for another big battle
up in the valley they hav fight in up ther a few days
ago they bring in prisoners every [day] or too i think if Jack
son give them a good Whiping in the valey they
Wil be Sastis fied of the War the prisoners Says they
ar tyard of the War now and Wishes it Wold end
it is reported that the yankees is on malverns
hill this morning if they ar they Wil git
fits if they do not leave before our men gets ther
they come up ther to keep our men from reinforce
ing Jackson but they ar be hind times for We hav

con Scrips We got too hundred and thirty of them
We got tweenty of them in our company i Will
giv you the naimes of Som of them Calaway Mill
ford, Press fethiston Will iam Baty, John Sadler
John Scot, L Speer, W. F. Clink scales, W H
Masters, Ben fox and a good meney more they Was
about fifty that Wanted to come to our company
if our men keep dying We Will need all We can
get i Will in form you of the death of W A Kay
he died the eight of this month he is lias Kay
Son he Was a good fellow and as good a Soldier as
ever trod Suthern Soil Wel i hav not got eney
more news of importance to rite to you at this time
i Want you to rite me to i hav not got aletter
from you in a month i Want to no if you
hav for got us or not or Wheather
you rite or What is the mat ter rite soon
and giv me all the news i want you to tell me
What sort of a crop you hav and how much Wheat
you made tell unkle William to rite me and
tell d murdock to rite to me Soon and let me hear
from him i want to hear from home often for
i hav giv up all hops of ever geting home i Will
rite as soon as i can you may thing i hav nothing to do but
rite but you may mistaken for we more to do now than
ever had be fore James alewine got aletter a day or
too ago from J Crawther and he Sed that you
had got aletter from J T Boyd i Want you to
tel him to rite to us We hav rote Severals letters
to him but hav not got aleter from him Sence he
left S C Rite Soon So nothing more at preasent
