Camp near Fredericks Burg
March the 17 1863
Dear father I take this oppertunity of
droping you afew lines to let you no how
I am ageting Along I am Well at this time
and hope when thes few lines come to hand they
may find you enjoying the same blessing.
I received your kind letter that W L Mccury
Fetch to me I Was glad to hear from home and
that you Was Well I hav no news of importance
Wright to you at this time as for War news I
hav nun all is quiet on this line as far as
I no We ar ly About in camp doing nothing
the times is very dull We hav bad Weather We
hav rain and snow We had A hail storm the
day it coverd the grownd about one inch deap
all the Boys has got back to camp on the 15th
I got them things that you sent to me I Was
glad to see the ham of meat come for We dont
such hear We hav been living fine since they com
Back they all look Well and harty N C Mccurry
is taking on about his gal he is rather down
I am sorry to inform you that I cant get to
com home this time I Was in hopes that I
Wold get of this time but I am mistaken I Wold
hav got to go but som of the company got mad
and kicked up A fuss About it and We had
to draw for it and I did not get it their is
too gon home now and too mor Wil start in A
day or too I dont think that they treated
me rite for they all prommised me that I shold
go first and When the time come they don all they
cold against me going home

it is doupt foull About me geting one When they
get back for I am afraid that they wil stop givin
g furlows if they continue giving them I think
I Will get one in About A month for their no
one to draw against me unless they put the
conscrips Against me you need not
look for me til you see me coming for it looks
like they do[n]t in tend for me to get home
but if I get ther Ile make it count for
too for the Way they treated me I dont
think that captan allen don rite for he sed that
he intended to let me go When John allen
com back but their is four to go before me
I reckon When all the resst of the company
goes I Wil get off capton Allen Wil Start
home in a day or too I am geting very much
dissatisfied if I dont get to go I intend to hav sat
isfaction out of them that nocked me out

Shaw is the ones they ar the grandest lyars in
the 7th regment for they wil say one thing
one minute and do another the nex Wel I Wil turn
the sub Ject J T CampBell Was up to see us the
other day he sed that J Cleland Was Well and
all the rest except Thomas hampton he has
bin sick for a Weak or too but he is geting
better now Well I am about out of somthing to rite
I Want you to right to me every chance you hav
and give me all the news I Will not rite eney more
till I See Wheather I get to home or not I Wil rite
Mary Jane another time giv my best respects to all
