Mary Jane Boyd Hall (1832-1923) resided in Abbeville County, South Carolina. She was the daughter of Robert Boyd. She married Fenton Hall (1829-1863) before the Civil War. Unlike her five brothers who joined military units that would frequently leave South Carolina, her husband joined the 6th South Carolina Cavalry (Aikens Partisan Rangers) based in Charleston. However, Mary would still lose her husband, along with four of her brothers. Fenton was killed in a skirmish at Willtown Bluff near the coast of South Carolina in July 1863. Before his death, he and Mary had conceived a child, Thomas A. Hall (1863-1932), who survived the war with Fenton's widow. Both lived well into the twentieth century.
