Fenton Hall

First Name: Fenton
Last Name: Hall
Unit:
6th South Carolina Cavalry (Aikens Partisan Rangers)
Biography:

Fenton Hall (1829-1863) resided in Abbeville County, South Carolina. He married Mary Jane Boyd (1832-1923) before the Civil War. Unlike his five brothers-in-law who joined military units that would frequently leave South Carolina, Fenton joined the 6th South Carolina Cavalry (Aikens Partisan Rangers) based in Charleston. Along with four of his brothers-in-law, Fenton died during the Civil War. He was killed in a skirmish at Willtown Bluff near the coast of South Carolina in July 1863. Before his death, he and Mary had conceived a child, Thomas A. Hall (1863-1932), who survived the war with Fenton's widow. Both lived well into the twentieth century.
