last weke the last leter that I reseved

thir has bin a right smart sture
here for the last fore or five days all
the trups here is over on John island
and a parte of our regment is over their
tha went over thar to attack the yan[k]es
but tha have not don it yet
it is repoarted that tha have give it
out but our trups has not returned
yet a bout one o clock yesturday we hard
hevy firing doun at white pointe we
sune got orders to go doun thar we
went doun thar in a hurey but the
yankes was all gon tha had run up
to white point with tow gun bots
