Camp Wafor March the 26th 1862

Dear father Sister & Brother i seat my Self
to night to write you all a few lines to
let you no how i am i am tolerable well
at present hopeing they may find you
all well when received and let you no
that i got the letter that you rote on the
16th ins i was glad to hear from home but was
sory to hear that father was sick but i hope
you all be better before this reaches you i have
no war news to wright at this time evry
thing is still down here and we hear nothing
from the yankeys at all the weeather has
been cold ever since i came back at night but
it is very warm in the day time the health
of the Rigt is tolerable good there are

of our company is in the hospital
they are Wm Philips & John Tucker they
are very bad we have to drill six
times a day about five hours we one company
dril at 7 oclock one at 9 1/2 one at 11 and a batalion
drill at half past too and company drill
at 4 1/2 and dress parade, the artilery was
trying one of their canon this evning i
could hear the balls and shell plain
and heard the shell burst about two
miles off, i have heard that William
has Volinteerd in orr Rigt and that
David Murdock and fifteen more was coming
to Join our company i would hav been
glad if they could all have staid at home

but it looks like they will take all
before they stop i thought Wm was
going to come and join our company i
sent him a passport to come tell him
if he goes to come by here and see me
i rote him a letter to him soon after
i come back and i have not got any answer
yet and i writin to Fenton & Mary also
march the 27) ther is no news in camp
this morning is is very cold and cloudy
there are fifteen of our Rigt took of to
cut Boat timber Marion Carlile went
out of company G they have been gone
eight days they are at the mount
pleasant five miles from Charleston
we plenty of beef to eat but little
bacon we git some corn meal and
some flour sugar and larde so

i want you to write to me and
tell me all the news and how you
all are gitting along with your
farms and if you have planted any
corn yet sarah i want you to send
me some stocking yarn to mend
my socks with you can send i[t] with
wickliffe when he comes back or you
can send it in a letter i will
have to come to a close for the want
of something to writ write as son as you
can and let me no if you have got any
letter from Daniel and Presley yet
So nothing more at present but remain your
