July the 6th Hen Rico County Va
frasier farm ner the battle feald
Dear father I onst mor tak the plasier
to drop you a few lins to let you know that
I am well at this time hoping when thes few
coms to hand ma find you all well daniel is
well well Father we hav bee fighting her for Six
or seven days I hav Been in three battle I hav not
got hurt yet nor daniel is not hurt But how
we hav com throw Saft I can not tell for the Bulet
and canon Ball cum all around me as thick as ever i
saw hale fall I am sory to in from you that
Brother william is wound I hav not saw him
sens he was woned I dont know whether he is bad
wuned or not nor i dont no wher he was hit But
I hop he is not dangers and tha ar a grat miney outhers
that I no But hant got time to mesion we had
seven woned and one kild in our compny Hirn [1]
Burton was kild I wil give you some of the woned
lieutenant Robert Carlile dick pressly James G Birt [2]
S H Brooks asbery Hall O A Norwood pink Haddan [3]
and sum others that I cant thin of tha ar about the third
of our Rigt ment kild and woned But
we hav gand a grat victory we hav drove the
Scondrels Back to thar gun Bots the Battle
first com menst in a bout fiv mils of Richmond
and now we ar a bout 18 mils from Richmond
and the yankee is Still going on and I hop tha
wil keep going wher I never wil see them
a gain for I tell you that is no fun in fighting
I am in grat hops that the war will com to and end
be for long I dont think it wil last mutch
longer for we whip them in ever fight that

of muskit and canon and the Balls was fling in
ever direction as thick as hal it semed lik tha hit
ever tree in the woods O But if I cood see you
I cood tell you mor about it we ar camp

and hoses ling on the feld yet I will Bring
my letter to a Close for wont time to writ
I want you to writ to me so[o]n for I have not
herd from home in Sum time and let me no if
you have herd from william or if he has got home
and all So if you have ever herd from thomas
Boyd and wher he is I will writ to Sum of you
all now But tha ar no Chance Rit Soon
