Dear friend i
Received yore letter to night
and was glad to here from you
and to here that you was well
i am well at precnt and
Doing well we are in four miles
of yankeys and expect to closter
in a few days we are in a verry
pretty place but it is verry worm
and water is not plety we drink
some that our horses wold not
at home we have seen some
prety hard time since we lept
camp butler we traveld,about
three days and nights without
sleeping and besids that we
had to march about fourteen
miles and toat our knap sack

and all of our Clothe and blankets
and muskets we are just finding
out what this campe duty means
and i expect we will nomore
about be long the yankeys has
got beauford in there hands to
Do as they pleas with but i
do not think it will belong
before we give them a trial
our regment is inpretty good
helth and are verry ankcious
to hav alittle fight to see how
they can sand the [????] if we had
[sone?] artilery i think we cold
sand theme pretty good hand
our regiment is clost to the
yankey Colonel Dunavans
Regment about four miles
behin us our Regment is
advance one we will hafter
lead the way all the people
