Dear Brother I now imbrace the oppertunity
of writing to you I received a letter from
you this morning wich was grate sadisfaction
for me to hear from you and that you
was all well it has bin three weeks sence
I hird from hmoe. I and Brother Sam [1]
is well at this time and I hope this letter
will find you the same I am still
acting as Curier for Gen .G .W Smith
and are tolerable well sadisfied as much as
as Enny Private could Exspect we
Curiers have a House to stay in and good
Stables for ours Horses and our duty is as
lite as enny Privates in the Confedrate
service but we git no Furloughs to
go home unless it is a sick furlough
I have made my self contented about
giting home untell the war ends and
gods nos wen that will be for I dont
see much prosspect of it a ending soon
I herd from .G.R.Fustick and Henry Jefcoat
about three weeks a go by John Martin
he came here to the Horspittle sick he is

nere about well now and will git a furlough
to come home he said George and Henry
was well wen he left the Rig ment
I have saw Rusle Martin allso he was
taken a prisiner in Marland but parole
and brought here sence he come here
he has ruaway I Exspect tried the
Road home and seince than he is
Exchange and I dont no what will be
the Consequence with him they have
bin snow here too weeks ago six inches
deep I tell you thats it is a heep Coler
here than it is in Lexington S.C.
John I would like vary much to see you
and talk with you i trust to god
that we ma all live to see this war End
and git home and enjoy the hapiness of a
peaseful life once more write to me wen
you can tell all the Boys to write to me
I have writen to Lee an Needam but got no
Ancer I must come to a close give my Respects
to all my inquring friends and reserve a
portion for your self your affection
