Sullivans Island January 4th 1863
Dear Friend I sea tmyself to drop you a
few lines which leaves me in a feble state
of helth though improving slow I have bin
clear of feever for too days but am
verry weak. Fed I am making and Effort
to try to git home I have got a furlough
riten and have sent it over to the
general to day I am confident it will
be approved and sent back to morrow
or next day and I Ecpect to come up on the
train next tusday night and I want you
to send a burgay to meet me at orangeburg [1]
and I will with pleasure satisfy you for
your trouble, I hope this may reach you
all injoying good helth
yours with much Respect
