Sulls Island May 24th /63
Dear Wife I had the pleasure of receiving
yours of the 20 inst and was glad to heare
that you had landed safe home and injoying
resonable helth and that sisey was improving
I hope you are both got over your trip
by this, as for myself I am still in feeble
helth much the same as when you left
I am not able for duty yet yesturday
morning I asked Doct Salley to Examin
me as I wished to no what was the mater
with me he don so he dont think I has
chronic Bronchitious alth he acknolledg that
my lungs are affected but never give
me much satisfaction as to what Extent
but charged me not to play Enney more
music until I git well I cant tell
how long that will be Dear Rachel
I have no news of importance to right you or
I would gladly Extend to you a long letter
the appearance of things heare is much
the same as when you left heare

Dear Rachel I cearfully red your letter
[over?] cancearnin some perticulars and you may
well imagin my Oppinion and feelings upp
=on this matter I could say much uppon
this matter but I deem it imprudent
to right much as wee no not what might
hapen but the devil ant dead yet
Dear Rachel I must tell you on last monday
I witnessed the Exicution of Jacob Adams
on the rase corse in chaleston he was shot by
twelve men the sight was a bad one I never
wish to see sutch another one, Dear Rachel
you will finde inclosed a small piece of
money you will please hand it to sisey and
tell her that is a letter pah sends to her
I close with a slight hope of seeing you soon
Excuse this short letter for the want of
something to right accept my Regards
for yourself and sisey give my respects to
