Sulls Island March 25th 1864
My Dear Rachael no doupt you have
bin somewhat disapointed in giting
a letter from me last mail. you will
see this as accompanyed by one that
has bin retened for three days which
I Expected to send by W,B, Livingston
but he did not git off as soon as he
Expected theire fore I did not put it
in the mail and it has bin detained
untill the presant time but I trust
this may reach you in due time for
the Next mail, this righting paper
I send you I Expect will be a little
Injuried as I will have to roal it up
but perhaps you can help that by
laying it in press and bring it strate
again My Dear I am glad to heare the
Murder Mr Altman has bin arested and
taken to Jail I hope he may soon meet
his Just Reward as no doupt he will

My Dear I have found our that
Dr. Salley recomens application
of cold water and allom water to
be verry good for piles but be care=
=full that you use cole water proper=
=ly and at a proper time for feare
you might give yourself vilent cole
this is my oppinion concerning the
danger if theire is Eney attall,
My Deare we have had some Extreamly coal
weather for the last four day I Expect there
is more of my old cows winked out before this
this still leaves us all well hoping it may
reach you all well we are Expecting to
have to take a trip to fort Sumter before
long as the men has to be relieved theire
