March 26th 1862
Dear Martha and children
I seat myself to let
you know that I am
well at this time and
hope this may find
you all well and
harty we never got
here untill saturday
evening we staid in
Charleston two days
and one night before
we could get a Boat
There is quit a stir
in camps now
with the people try-
ing to rais companys
we have not been mus
tered in yet but will
in a day or two

Tell Johns wife that
he is well and doing
find I have no news
worth writing at this
time
I want yow to take
good care of every thing
and more perticular
the children you must
kiss them for me
tekk Farther and
the firls to write
to me and you must
write as soon as you
get this and let
me know how you all
are so nomore
